By the end of the year. I'd like to invest in some good 'high quality' interconnects for my headphone system.
Just to point out. I don't like WBT RCA plugs. I don't like handling them, IME. Lets stick to interconnects with good simple RCA plugs.
What are your recommendations?
Thanks.

I wouldn’t spent that sort of money on interconnects, myself, so it’s hard to recommend anything. Try Seeking out some Deltec Black Slink Goretex. Sonneteer recommend Gutwire but I’ve never heard it. I won’t be changing my Black Rhodium Polar Illusion because they are the best I’ve come across.
Given the tendency of cables to suit certain kit, I’d always say buy used. That way you can always change later if you want without losing hundreds.

Shane,
If you'd like to try a highly rated pair of interconnects, try Antonios SPOTFIRE cables. There's a shed load of feedback on AoS if you search for SPOTFIRE on there.
There's no need to spend that sort of cash on cables, it's just not necessary.
Personally, I'd not touch Neutrik Profi plugs with a barge pole. I know Dave is currently lauding the Townsend cables and I respect his opinion, but in my experience if those plugs are changed, the performance improves greatly. That was the case on multiple occasions when trying Mark Grant cables. Its what led me to seek out a "top class" RCA. The KLE harmony is the best plug out there. My opinion of course.
The Townsend's are Cryogenically treated which apparently realigns the molecules in the copper/silver material in the cable.
Whether that's a real benefit, I don't know so I'll be Cryogenically treating a set of SPOTFIRE to see for myself. 😀

I'd also say give the Spotfire interconnects a try. They are a cut above. Although wasted on headphones, don't know why anyone bothers with headphones, awful things. I suppose if you want to listen very late at night they are a necessary evil.

I know, but I still don't understand why anyone would prefer to listen on headphones. I accept that it's just me but I like the physicality of the sound that you only get from using speakers, that's important to me.

I’m another headphone hater. I love that “out of the box” sensation and it makes music real for me. No headphones I’ve heard have even begun to do that and I don’t believe any ever will for me,

If I had that funky garden room like Shane then I'd have some big speakers in there and be blasting it out at all hours. F#ck headphones. The problem with having neighbours is that you can't put music on late night at any volume which is exactly when you've had a few and really fancy cranking it up. I've had my eye on a detached house that is quite near work, would save me £1500 a year in traveling exes as I could just walk in every day. But can't face having another mortgage. Or the hassle of moving. You want to sort it out Shane, you're always swimming in the shallow end mate

Going back to interconnects. There’s always the headphone lead to consider too. The extension leads make a difference so I’m assuming thenheadphone leads will too. Probably the cheaper cable and earpads accounting for 90% of difference between £100 Grados and £600 ones.
Might be worth splitting your budget to get better headphojne cable if the phones will accommodate it.

I really like the fit and feel of KLE plugs. I haven’t tried same cable with different plugs so I can’t be sure how much improvement they bring, but my current Black Rhodium Polar Illusion use them and I won’t be changing them so I guess it’s academic.

Must give those Black Polar cables a try someday. I see they're still in production. Have they been through some revisions over the years? S.

That was one of the reasons for changing from the Spotfire, the other was needing longer interconnects. Shane, are you using standard leads with you headphones?

Should've said, I can fit XLR to the SPOTFIRE! He's happy, and that's all that matter and yes, wise to use XLR where possible.

Give over man André.
The only reason it's your fav connector, is because it's from the 60s/70s.
Bet you think DIN speaker connections are where it's happening.
Gedda grip man! It's 2019!
