I decided the bad points outweighed the good. Plus I'm lazy, selfish etc.

Raising kids has been a thankless task for me. Divorced my first wife and she poisoned their minds against me, so have not seen or heard from either of them for over 20 years. It used to bother me but they have never tried to contact me for my version of events so I regard them as lost. If I had that magic crystal ball I wouldn't have had them at all, knowing what I know now.

Apart from a brief period when we owned a house and before we had children, I've never been much arsed about tinkering or comparative listening. Now I've got two systems I'm completely happy with, I've stopped even wondering about how they could be improved on. (Which is ironic as I now have the funds to upgrade if I wanted to). Surprised that there was even a brief period. You're not as idle as me though, at least you could be arsed enough to get married and have children. Children seem to be a lot of work nowadays. I had a period of mad hyperactivity in my late 20s. Bought a house, did loads of DIY (lagged the loft, FFS!), took my job seriously. It nearly killed me, so I became a slacker instead, long before it was fashionable.
