My brother wants to replace his old Rega Planar 3 with something else. He is not interested in any DIY, and wants an easy speed change.
Somfor £1k, what would you suggest for the deck and arm combo?

Never ever heard one but would have to agree. If I was starting again and that was my budget for a new deck it'd be hard to see beyond one of these....

If ultimate sound quality isn't required and ease of use is a factor, I'd get one of these, a Denon DP-47F. Cost between £500 - £1000:
