Maybe get one of those cheap smd attenuators?
Your soldering is much nearer than mine 😞

On its way. Just bought this Thorens TD150 Mk.II in what looks like near mint condition. Lovely little turntables these.

I always got sidelined into Lencos, Duals and the blinkin' fruitbox back then. I have a TD160BC mk2 in the loft and a 'Super' plinth to put it in, but it just doesn't have the magic of the 150, especially one like that above. A new original (possibly also the 'Thakker' belt is necessary on a regular basis as the belt is a bit too stretchy and a year or two of regular use is all it's really good for.
These days, the arm is just fine with careful lubrication of the lateral bearing and setting of the rvertical one, so please don't be too willing to ditch it. The internal wires should still be ok but the external ones could be lightly upgraded, initially with RCA plugs (the originals could fail internally) or with Van Damme or something not too stupidly priced.
Rambling again, sorry. Treat the thing like an LP12 (they're almost identical in too many ways...) and you won't go wrong.

Never liked the look of the 160 with integrated arm. This looks better:

Tonight's project. A pair of Mission 762 speakers with completely rotted foam cone surrounds. Got some rubber (not foam) surrounds that don't fit due to the originals having a very narrow roll so I've trimmed about 4mm off the cone all round to make them fit. It'll work and I'll have these up and running soon. Don't care about originality on these as long as they work.

I used to but, reforms and sell on for no money just to set them back on their feet. I’m very fond of both.

As I finished building my passive pre-amp recently, I thought I'd also make something to go with it, so this compact amplifier case is on the way. It's not as big as it looks in the picture. The front panel is nine inches across. I've ordered some TPA3116 bits that will be going in it!

Not this time, but there are some decent looking mono boards around.

That was quick! The amplifier case just arrived. Six days from China. I'll unpack and assemble it later for evaluation. I just need to wait for the rest of the components to get here.

it boggles the mind that a machine manufactured item can be more cheaply made and shipped from the other side of the world, than next door.... I'd guess some of that saving is that China probably mines its own metal, but even so.

Well my Cheviots didn't sell on ebay yet again (4th time). Sort of relieved on each occasion, 'cos I like 'em, but they really have to go, as I just don't have room for them anymore in my home or my future plans. Shame, they are they best sounding 12" Tannoys I've heard and that's out of very many. Think I'll bung 'em on Gumtree next.

What are you going to be using instead? Might be parting with the Ardens soon, maybe my 'future plans' are similar to yours.

I've also got a batch of other drivers to experiment with in home built cabinets.

You have them on BIN or auction?Auction, with a £1365 starting price, which is fair considering how nice these are. Stupid thing is, the first person to actually bother to come round for a demo would jump at them, they sound bloody amazing! Better than the Monitor Golds and HPD's (which I've also owned).

I'd try it on a BIN. I rarely buy anything on auction and I suspect a lot of people are the same.

There's a pair on there for £900 even though they need a bit of love.
No doubt yours are nicer Geoff. Hope you get a bite on them. Wish I could get them!

I think it’s just one of those times where there’s a lull. Give it 6 months and prices will be at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Looks like it's goodbye to these. Just been sold on ebay. Had them since 2013. They sound fabulous, among the very top sounding Tannoys I've ever heard and that's all the classics near enough.
