Yeah, I’d buy both of them if I had the dosh. I actually prefer the look of the Air Force 2

Ugly ass turntables. They look like a broken storm trooper Ooooooh. Can't say I disagree too much, prefer the looks of your SP10 and Avid Acutus, come to think of it, and many more tt's.

If it sounds good enough, it doesn't matter how it looks.

I wish I could agree but for me, the looks and build really matter too. If it was just about the sound, I’d have kept one of the Sony PS-6750s I had. VFM-wise they are the biggest bang for buck I’ve heard. Jap looks aren’t palatable fior me though. Probably the nicest affordable decks are Oracle. Spend a bit more and VPI and Basis are nice too. Great fir anyone who only seeks good sound though. They will spend less than someone who wants a looker.

Townshend Rock Ref still looks great to my eyes. S. Can’t argue there, especially with an Excalibur and Merlin

They do the vanishing act when in use, speed is very stable and they just sound delightful in a way that absorbs your attention.

Yup, VPI are actually one of the worst measuring decks with high amounts of motor coupled noise making it through to the stylus. Rega manages much better in this respect. Also their speed stability is very poor, check out the polar graphs, they should be a perfect circle. www.diyaudio.com/forums/analogue-source/309925-hurst-motors-300-rpm-vs-600-rpm-upgrade-myth.htmlhere's a VPI polar, it should be a perfect circle. Here's an older iteration of my Kuzma with a 24v rega motor and using abasic Geddon close as PSU. Way smaller deviation from circle. The VPI shows gross error that is a function of drive accuracy and engineering quality on the bearing, pulley etc.

Well Sh#t! That's absolutely destroyed that notion.
However crap the rotation on the platter is, I actually still think it sounds good.
Where are those measurements from Simon? Is there one for the SP10?

I like the look of that Marantz, not so keen on the rest.

I would make do with any of them, all good lookers in their own way.

I like the first one, I'd happily have that, as for the rest no thanks :-)
