Not sure about the NDX2 because I have never heard one, and quite frankly I am sure for the new cost of one (£5000) you could find other streamers that are a run for it's money or likely better it.
Here I am talking about the original NDX. It is dire, a serious let down following on from their CD players. Typical Naim sound, but even more forward than you would expect from their usual kit.
The only way I found to tame the sound was to add a Beresford Caiman SEG DAC which was significantly better than the internal DAC, which is ironic when you are talking about a Streamer that cost £3800 and DAC which costs £180 when both new.
After having owned and enjoyed the CDI and CDX2 CD players I was looking forward to the NDX, but it was a significant let down and I would seriously recommend avoiding it altogether.
I eventually replaced it with a Cambridge Audio CXC transport and the above Beresoford DAC which as a combo, was better in ever way (apart from the inability to stream obviously).
If you like Naim CD Players, seriously avoid the NDX, you will incredibly disappointed as I was.

I'm starting to miss the Naim CD3 that I had last year.
Good thread, Paul.

Why people arent all over the Raspberry Pi for streaming and end point duties, i do not know. It's an absolute giant killer.
I'll be sharing my thoughts on this and the Allo kit in due course.

I was incredibly disappointed with the Raspberry Pi. The Cambridge CXC transport I used literally whooped it, when connected to the same DAC. My current NovaFidelity streamer is better still. Especially with files that have been encoded by the streamer and stored on the internal drive. It's also a pain to use when the software goes wrong (which appears to be quite regular) requiring you to reformat the SIM card, which someone without technical knowledge might struggle with.

That's user experience is absolutely polar opposite to my own.

Sometimes I’ve even confounded my earlier experience when revising kit.
