I was just talking about this with a mate. He’s got a P6 and feels little pride of ownership. I commented that I’ve lost track because they’ve had Planars, P series, RP series and now Planars again. The there are so m at numbers it’s like a bingo game. Same with the arms.
The cheaper Rega deck (P1 or RP1, I forget) I had showed horrible build quality and poor QA. I also dislike the large number of decks in the range. They are becoming too similar to Project and I don’t think I could ever own another Rega deck. Anyone else feel, like they’ve lost their way?

That's business and demand for you.
I like the Rega RP3 I have, it whooped my previous older Linn LP12 without much effort.

I heard a P / RP / Planar 3 (yes, they really ought to decide what they're calling them) against a 6 a few years ago. I thought the 3 was preferable; more alive and engaging...and better looking for being more 'industrial', but then I did start buying hifi in the 80s!!

I located a minty 1985 Rega Planar 3 for mate who insisted on it. With RB300 arm. It's...adequate. In every respect. I told him to get an SL1200 but he wasn't having it. He last read a hi-fi mag in about 1983 so mentally that's where he's at. 'It's a DJ deck.'
When we compared the two side by side he was a little crestfallen. You can lead a horse to water...

DSJR posted a couple of vids a while ago, Even on the limited evidence of that sound, the 3 sounded more engaging to me. The 6 sounded a bit flat.

Man, I hate that R200 arm. The RB250 and 300 in stock form buried it. Imagine what a re-wired one with improved counterweight and stub would do.
