I have mixed feelings about Chinese made kit. On the one hand I have had a Puresound amp and Consonance CD player. Both well made and reasonably good.
On the other, I've had a couple of Music Angel amps and a JAS CD player that were not too good and also totally unreliable. The amps had 220v transformers and I had some serious arcing problems afire about 20 mins.
I don't think I will have a Chinese made product again, even if it's a known brand that's shifted it's manufacture there. That may sound limiting, but with the wealth of British, American and Japanese vintage kit out there I doubt I will miss it. Modern stuff is often insubstantial anyway.
Anyone else a bit wary of Chinese stuff? Or am I being too hard on it?

Wary maybe, but I do believe Chinese made stuff has gotten better. Too many well known brands manufactured over there, surely they are learning.

I think I’m ok with Chinese made as long as it’s the maker themselves who has set up out there. If it’s out-sourced to another Chinese factory, I would probably not want to buy because you can’t be so sure of quality.
But then I can’t see me buying anything new in the future. There’s just so much quality stuff for sale used. Vintage hifi seems to last a lifetime in most cases and reliability is important to me. Newer stuff with surface mounts and loads of chips and gadgetry isn’t going to be easy to service.
