I’m posting this in the context of recent forum fascinations with cables, fuses, grounding boxes etc.
I’ve been on similar journeys in my time, so I know some things can offer “improvements” when you try them in and out of your system.
Whilst this can stimulate your interest for a wee while, the “improvements” never seem to have much significance in the longer term. In a very short while, you’ve gotten used to them and are looking for the next “hit”.
I guess I’m coming to the conclusion that even if these things are audible in an a/b comparison, they don’t make any lasting contribution to my listening pleasure. They simply spice it up for a few hours when they arrive. Are you really happier listening on the long term thanks to the latest accessory?
The fact folk are spending hundreds and even thousands on accessories is their business. I’m just trying to put down my thoughts in order to see if they strike a chord with anyone. Maybe even give pause in some cases.
You can do a heck of a lot in terms of your music collection, your room and your components with the sort of money folk are dropping on accessories. Is a tweak/accessory really worth this sort of money? Do you really need to spend any money (or time) on such things when you have a music collection and a system that took ages to put together waiting to be played.
