I'm investigating the new era of digital amplification.
I've been looking at Nord and Apollon who seem to be at the forefront of where the sensible money is spent.
Anyone heard anything from them?

If it fell on him it'd have killed him due to the weight. I'm unable to place it as intended due to the space so I'm considering making a change. It's not something I "want" to do so it's just theory at the minute.

I’m not sufficiently savvy or experienced to comment meaningfully.
My sole experience is a TA2021 based T amp. It was sonically way better than it’s cheapo price but disturbingly un-musical. Seemed to irritate me every time. It had poor drive capability too.
OTOH, I’ve been heard loads of Sh#t amps in my time. If I’d had the same experience with a valve or SS amp, it would’ve been stupid to conclude all such amps were rubbish too. Also, Sonneteer have made class D amps. I have sufficient trust in them to believe there’s mist be some merit in the technology otherwise they wouln’ t have bothered.
Keeping an open mind and being willing to have my previous experience updated is where I’m at with this stuff.

I think there has been a lot of development in the class D sector and lots of good reports are now starting to filter out. SQ has an interesting set of amplifiers which are modulus 86. They are DIY so within my capability to knock up.

Class D amps
Better idea - tell the child if he ever goes within 5 feet of your kit again you'll burn him with cigarettes. That worked like a charm with my nieces and nephews. Show them the glowing end of the lit ciggy and see the fear in their little eyes.
Nah I'm kidding (about the class d amps, not the burning).
Heard a T amp thing, better than I thought it would be. Suspect most car stereos arte class d as well these days. I couldn't really give a verdict unless I'd lived with a proper set of monoblocks or something for at least a month and I can't see that ever happening.
(Don't forget you're selling that krell to me. I'll only keep it as a spare so when you realise what a terrible, terrible mistake you've made you can have it back )

Yes, I might just have to see if I can find a better place for it. Jimbo was round for a listen today and it left a very strong impression on him.

The DCB1/Spotfire/Krell combo is a killer combination. I still haven't got used to the how my system sounds yet, keep having to pinch myself.

We experimented with speaker cable too. I will be making a pair soon which will definitely improve things further here.

I can bring a set of nc400s over as well as the mod86, better bring my pre and a se to xlr as it's all balanced.
I'll not comment on them now but I think you'll find the obvious differences between class a d and decent ab interesting. It's all about priorities, top, middle or bottom!
