Just a bit of fun. I thought I’d start with amps. Imagine you had a 4 figure sum and you could spend it all on an amp or a mps. What would you consider? what would you buy? Would you buy new or used?
May as well go first.
I’d look at the following
Leben CS-600x Luxman L590 AXII MCIntosh MA8900
I’d probably buy new if it was my last ever amp. I’d go integrated because there are too many variables with pre/power and I like the lasck of hassle they bring,

I'd probably have a word with Colin about a nice beefy Class A job and sort a TVC to go with it.

Quite a few older amps I'd like a crack at. Pioneer M91 (with the matching pre) for instance: And the Rotel Michi combo:

If I was to choose an integrated amp it would be this one:
I reviewed it a few years ago and I really didn't want to send it back to be honest. Chrome One review
I bought one of their power amps some years before that and that was a real cracker.
Like a complete idiot I sold it to buy an MF Trivista 300 integrated, which simply couldn't hold a candle to it. If I was any good at running I would have chased the courier to get it back.

That’s what I love about forums. You get to see and hear about stuff that would never even enter your universe. Stunning looking kit IMO and now I can have fun finding out more about it.

I'd never heard of them either. Don't like those pointy knobs though. Reminds me of Madonna's bra.

I think the very latest German hi-fi leaves our British gear standing in build and sound terms by a big margin, hence why I currently own Quadral speakers and lust after another Aaron amp. I also rate the Polish gear highly too and it will piss me off no end if our politicians ferk up Brexit because there is a mountain of european gear that needs to reach these shores at sensible prices.

Are German loudspeakers always ruthlessly efficient?

Can’t believe Macca said the same as me earlier.
Either it really does look like Madonna’s bra or me and Macca have one track minds!

No, it looks like Madonna's bra.
only someone who has never seen Madonna's bra would not say that.
presumably whoever designed them had either A) Not seen Madonna's bra or B) has seen Madonna's bra and thought it would be a good look for an audio amplifier.
There's really no other possibility.

Sorry to burst your lewd bubbles, but the conical knobs were around long before Madonna's jugs were fettered up in her dreadful bustenhalter. I much prefer the beautifully crafted Aaron knobs than the hideous blobs that Wavac adorn their kit with:
Ghastly!

Are German loudspeakers always ruthlessly efficient? No Martin, they are "Korekt", the way they should be. Shame we are so far apart, otherwise I would haul them up to your place and say nothing, just put music through them.
