Anyone tried these? I'm getting curious about them. I seem to recall you can DIY them so may read up and have a go, I'd be very interested in hearimg anyone's thoughts in the meantime though.

When I get back on solid ground, I will dig out the threads about what it's materials and construction actually are. I've read them before a long time ago, but I forget the details. If the DIY versions look like they will be "near enough" the same, I will make some. If they're any good, I will pass them round.

It's decent stuff, I borrowed some from a friend a while back. For DIY purposes, it was claimed to be made of copper magnet winding wire which can be bought fairly cheaply.
I never tried a DIY version myself as I generally prefer the sound of silver, so went down that road.

Maybe the branded wire will still be better but for a DIY project, that's well worth diggin more info out on.

My suggestion for a general reference, even if you feel you can easily better it, is maybe RG59U based and home made, with Neutrik standard plugs on. I don't know the shipping, but these, if reliably based on the basic specs of the cable, should offer a fair cheapo reference to base all fancy wires on - www.primecables.ca/p-312834-cab-5346-all-premium-2-rca-plug2-rca-plug-mm-22awg-cable-black-11-lengths-available-monoprice#sku311813I've used something similar but unknown specs from CPC - cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg00793/hq-lead-2x-phono-p-p-1m/dp/AV14256which a local dealer many years ago used to sell for a tenner or more as a general interconnect - they're better than QED Qnex 2 used to be (basically two core mains lead with a screen I recall and £25 per stereo metre pair). The sound is as basic and 'raw' as the price would indicate, but my Gawd it can show how some top end wire confections can severely alter what's passing through them to soften or hype up the sound. All the NVA interconnects build on the raw sonics of this one although it's the SSC which really begins to show what can be done here in my opinion and it's the 'way' the musicians are playing and/or communicating where the dearer ones really come into their own.

I haven't seen RG59u. I will have to look that one up. Thanks for the tip.
