I seem to have aquired a Staff. I told my daughter that if I should end up looking for a replacement for my poor departed Lurcher, the last thing I'd want would be a Staffy, but she went and found me one anyway. Seems a nice affectionate little doggy. It belonged to a disabled friend of my daughter who could no longer care for the dog. Meet Coco.  |

I collected her lunchtime and took her home. It only took a few minutes, 'cos she was less than a mile away. Got her indoors and the first thing she did was a big dump in the middle of the living room rug. I put it down to nerves, she was probably stressed, poor mutt. Seems much more settled now.

She looks lovely, sorry she's dumped on your rug but I'm sure she will soon settle. It was just 'cos she was unsettled and in strange surroundings. Didn't tell her off. She is properly house trained. She enjoyed a mile walk round the local green earlier. Pulls a bit, but she'll stop once she gets used to walking with me. Last one was the same. By the way, I never show anger towards a dog, it helps nothing. Just kindness, patience and firm guidance is all that's needed. I can't understand people that hit their dogs, all that teaches them is that they can never trust you again. |

She does look cute Geoff, is she behaving herself? Good as gold. House trained and as sweet natured as any dog could be, loves everybody. She's not very used to walking on a lead, so she's learning, OK though. Getting used to my subtle ways of giving instructions. I use low whistles, hisses and finger snaps, as well as words of course. |
