This deck was a huge part of my hifi history and my first example was truly stunning, The Rock still endures today and has come a long way from it’s Cranfield Institute roots. Nevertheless the major elements of the design remain, A true enthusiasts deck, it will always be close to my hear and is a no brainier in terms of its HOF place.

I loved my first one, then I had a few more and became less and less fond. At first I thought it was my tastes changing, but I now have a theory. All subsequent ones had platters that were clearly not uniform when in rotation. My biggest beef was lack of stability in the sound which I think was caused by this. I reckon my first one was better made. If I bought one again, I would want to see it in rotation, because the platters can vary too much for my liking.
Like you, I also love the looks and I remember just how good my first one was.
