Hi,
I'm in a dire situation right now with interconnects. I've used a £400 occ XLR, chord XLR, MOGAMI XLR, and couldn't get it sounding right. I swapped to unbalanced and the system improved by using atlas equator achromatic RCAs...but still something wasn't right. Moving speakers around non stop etc driving me insane.
I had a gotham gac 4/1 rca lying around. I used it between the pre and power amp and it resolved all the issues. Sounded more natural, faster, better bass, better top end. This cables supposed to crap. What the hell is happening?

I've never been a fan of XLR and always covert to RCA. I have a few cables I really like and keep around, but generally I don't change from the SAEC XR-3000. Whatever works best, is the best cable. Flog the other stuff, sit back and relax with a few spare beer tokens 👍🏻

Use the equipment what sounds correct to you and not what you think should sound correct. Forget about bullshit on forums, trust your own ears and learn from your experiences.

He's right, but just for the record, not everything on forums is bullshit, also never be fast to go with every single popular thing on forums, otherwise you'll be swapping out every other thing, every other month

I respect people's opinions especially of they've been in the game for a long time. I wasn't a cables make a difference guy, then I was, now I've realised they do, but paying through the nose doesn't matter. It's the first time I've been happy with my system in over 10 years. The cable change and an sbooster for the DAC has been revelatory. Those atlas cables seriously colour the sound. As did the cryo'd OCC xlr which gets rave reviews (and no spec published on capacitance etc), and no response from the manufacturer. I'm now giving a wide birth to unspec'd cables.

It's wise to understand what you're buying cable wise. Other people will suggest that cables don't matter if they are not broken, but capacitance is a factor in certain systems and it can have a negative effect.
