I have just made a couple of mains leads using 2.5mm installation cable. I used Kaiser iec plugs and Crabtree mains plugs. The Strain releif on then Kaiser had to be shortened because it was too narrow at the end. The Crabtree plugs are also not internally suitable fior larger, stiffer cable. O many mauled parts requiring sharp bends and the strain relief struggle still with wider cable.
Let me say in advance, I’m not looking for £20 plus mains plugs. That’s just a piss taking rip off. I’m looking for a non “hifi” plug that is internally suited to larger stiffer cables. Same goes for the IEC. I was hoping there may be products out there for a fiver or so that do the job. Any thoughts?

Had this problem myself, I did get a mains plug and IEC from MCRU which were ok but maybe paid a little more than a fiver. Just out of curiosity which cable are you using.

It’s H07Z-R from Ebion. Makes a good LS2 type speaker cable too. Even better when doubled up.

The UK 3 pin plug does have it's shortfalls as far as fitting large gauge wires.
MS Audio do one that has a bit more room inside, but for cables above 2mm it has to be a Furutech large bodied affair which are not cheap.
The IEC plug is easier to obtain off ebay as there are plenty of cheap fat body chinese knock-offs to be had.

Thanks for that. It’s saved me the bother of looking. Anything above a tenner is rip off territory as far as I can see. Others may feel ok Aging it, but is just don’t see the value,
