Looks like even the established and experienced can get bit - as the ole saying goes, you can never be too cautious.

He sounds a like a very New York guy... who of course lives in Florida as many do!
I remember about 30 years ago I purchased my Classe Audio amplifiers from a HiFi store where I enjoyed the sales people and liked the brands they stocked. One day I drove past and the front door was boarded up. A few days later I drove to another high end store six miles away and found two of the sales staff from the other store, who were now working at this other company and told the story. Apparantly the owner was having financial difficulty with the business but wasn't talking about it and hadn't missed payroll yet. (Imagine the stress.) They closed for the weekend one Saturday afternoon and when they arrived on Monday, the place was completely empty. All the stock had been spirited away on Sunday, they had no paycheck for the last two weeks of work, and they couldn't reach the owner by phone even weeks later. I never heard any customer stories but it seems likely some had placed orders not yet fulfilled.

I sense Jay cant believe that even a man of his experience in the world of hifi has been caught out, goes to show doesnt it, in all things where your passing money over without seeing a premises or goods, you just cant be too cautious - £30k is a lot of beans.

It's not the first time this clown has been scammed, half his gear is a rip off.
