Well yesterday was "D" day for my gear... or so I thought. My amp was found to be "down" a bit, and that cost me dearly to find that out (£300), so now have an as new amp. I finally got to hear the Dac I have been going on about for ages, the Ferrum Wandla, and yes, it was very good, but very light weight wise, and as my new XLR cables are quite heavy and very unwieldy, I will see after a longer demo On connecting my PS dac up, using the same cables and playing the same 2 tracks from his laptop, there was distortion coming from the speaker that was NOT there a few mins earlier, so it was the PS dac at fault. So that was boxed up, and ready to take to the repair guy, but as he is helping out at the Ascot show, it will be a few days, and some of the cost will be transferred to the dac, so won't be £300 again, phewwwww I had a brand new pair of speaker cables, they replace my TQ Black II, they are a big jump up for me, They are Audiomica Labs DOLOMIT Reference, which were a special order, as I wanted a 2 meter set instead of the standard starting length of 2.5 meters. I was quoted what I thought was a good price of £580 (inc VAT), which was a lot lot less than the list price for a 2.5 meter pair some £900, I thought that cannot be right, but never thought about it again, anyway I was told by my dealer (who supplied them) that they gave the wrong quote (Audiomica), so saved about £200 I reckon So thats the way things stand at the moment, so back to listening to the odd bit of music via the Anthem A/V

Really great idea Dave, thanks for that. On my eBay page, I noticed under similar products this just below, which look even neater and yet still a kg.

I do not want to pass judgement on the Ferrum, until I have ran the new speaker cables in and as the XLR's are quite new, get a few more hours on those. One of the reasons for going with the Ferrum is that it has a i2S input, and been assured by a couple of people in the know, that it works out of the box with my Matrix Audio SPDIF. So after a few day, I will to a comparison between the 2 units (with a hi fi mate) and see if its worth the upgrade ££ wise
