I remember 733, 734, 732.
The ones I liked more were the later 77 range, the 773 and 774 especially.

(I liked the Coda 7, 8 and 9 but therse never came back blown up). About the worst pair of speakers I've ever heard, Coda 7's, fit for door stops and nothing else. I suspect they weren't blown up cos they sounded so bad they were turned off.

They don't screech like the other cheapies did but not muffled like tannoy Mercury 2's used to be (woodgrain fronts) - tweeters do fatigue and blow, so maybe the tweets gad gone? We were stunned how Sh#t the Coda 7's and 8's were inside, but apparently the wood sleeve and plastic front and back kind of damped each other out. Not westies type of speaker at all and ultimately not mine either, but the floor standing 9 had some gentle sparkle which is still there in a pals pair he has in his summer house when it's warm...
I wonder what you people think of the cheap Q Acoustics speakers - they're exquisitely put together and don't look cheap at all.

I don’t doubt what you say about the build but they look real tat to me. Hated them on sight lol.

If we're talking q Acoustics I wouldn't go as far as tat. They look like budget speakers but they don't look nasty. Only heard the little ones. They were okay, no obvious problems.

You gotta look at it this way. With expensive speakers, a hell of a lot are not what they are cracked up to being sound wise, just hyped... You also pay premium for say a specialised finish/Real wood veneer, low batch manufacture etc, there is also this thing that goes off in Audio buffs brain cell that i have yet to fully understand that goes with paying a lot.
Lower ends speakers oddly can & do in a lot of instances sound more pleasing. The cabinets are obviously made to a budget, but at the end of the day if they look tidy who gives a crap unless your on an agenda.
You will be surprised how many people would opt to buy cheap tidy looking furniture from say Ikea, well buying speakers aint no different as long as they look nice & sound nice..

Look at the Q Acoustics closely, especially the white ones. The fit and finish of it all, basic *weight* of the damned things, utterly tidy sound quality and the class they exude, they really could sell for several times the price. Mind you, they may not be this low price for ever if the parliamentary shenanigans taking off this afternoon screws it all up for the rest of us They do now have proper audiophile-priced top models, so maybe the profit from these can help keep the cheaper ones well priced.

If I was limited to buying small budget speakers I'd rather have some KEF Coda III any day, and you can get them for nothing.

I used a pair of tiny Q Acoustics for my PC They were ok enough. They were a White finish that looked better.
