I was first introduced to NovaFidelity by Tony Sallis of Coherent Systems.
I'd been looking for a replacement for my previous Naim NDX which was a total let down following from their excellent CD Players.
Tony brought over a few different options including the NovaFidelity X40, which I decided on.
My previous Cambridge Audio CXC and Beresford Caiman SEG had already bettered the Naim NDX which is why I had finally sold it, but interestingly I also preferred it over the CDX2 too which I didn't expect.
Playing CD's via the internal CD drive of the NovaFidelity X40 wasn't as good as the CXC/SEG combo, but once I import the music onto the internal HDD the difference is remarkable, it take it to a completely different level.
It also streams from my files that I have imported onto my home computer which sound better than playing via the CD drive, but not quite as good as importing onto the internal HDD. I can certainly hear differences between Applelossless and FLAC recordings.
I have heard a few different NovaFidelity models and they are all excellent and very musical and not bad value for money either, so highly recommended.

Nice looking bit of equipment. I have read before, running music from internal storage can sound better than a cd, although it's not something I have found as yet.
