Hi folk, and thanks for all your patience, advice etc on the "Digital" quandary I have been having lately. Yesterday 8/7, my PC guy bought me my latest purchase, a " Minisforum MS-01", it fulfilled my needs, if great overkill, in that it could take up to 3 SSD's and had a superfast Pentium i9. Then idea that I could put all my things on the included 1 TB SSD and just use the 2TB SSD for my music files (and Audirvana if I could). Anyway my PC guru installed it with its brick type power cable, and swapped over the HDMI and Artisan silver USB that connects my TV and Matrix Audio SPDIF. Then disaster, the subs started making a god awful hum, nooooooooo I thought. we tried USB C to HDMI, 3 other quality HDMI cables, put the PC in a temporary position and just ran the various HDMI cables to the TV, and made sure NO power cables was near any other cable... No joy, it still created a noise. The poor lad had no idea how to cure it, so in the end he swapped back my Samsung SSD and reinstalled my previous PC, where it performed as before, dead quiet. He was very apologetic, and said it actually works, as he has used/tested it. He said he would return it. I suppose the moral I learnt was that their are other upgrades (but dearer than the £800 new PC), and buy from Amazon and not direct from the manufacturer in China, where getting a refund is harder Peter

Sorry for your problems with your new pc. Pete, I was very surprised you took the pc route for your music listening, I know from previous experience with my small fanless pc (it was a Minisforum), not the problem you have just had, but with Windows and their updates. I was forever losing 'drivers' and having to reinstall, plus other niggles. That is why I purchased the Eversolo A6 to use when I'm abroad, I'm no techie but it's a damn site easier to use with their app. I either listen to music files stored inside or stream Qobuz. There are other options but I never use them. It comes with an internal dac but you can output to your own which I assume you would do. It's been so good I purchased an A8 to use here in the uk. The Eversolo connects to the net either with cable or wirelessly, it was important for me that I had wireless connection when abroad. I use wireless connection here in the uk, I don't have wires/switches/LPS' making my life more complicated, just site back and enjoy the music.

I guess it was one of those things. I had hoped with it being all the latest goodies and stuff, it would improve things a tad, as I am very limited to what I can do with regards the room. I will have a deeper look into servers (not streamers as zero in it apart from my own Flacs in DSD and PCM), ones with a SSD drive, like Melco especially

As I mentioned all along a nice clean streamer and a better pad job done we all make mistakes Tony, and I did, the good thing is I did not pay beforehand. Will look into yet another Pad ( we have 3 for the other halves games, some games do not work on the new one for some reason) will look into my local dealer bring a demo of the Melco, when he pops in to replace the speaker thats playing up, then can decide

Let's hope the Melco does the business, is it not a streamer as well?

Let's hope the Melco does the business, is it not a streamer as well? no, do not have need for a steamer, as do and will not subscribe to a music service, I just stream from my own music files and use Spotify Free
