Here you go chaps... All I can say having owned a couple of top uk high end car bodyshops in the past the finish on these speakers is beyond anything I've encountered so far, sound wise at low volumes just breaking more in the coming weeks
The groove like a demented 90's raver on speed, the uncanny ability to carve out the recording environment is insanely additive

They look beautiful! I bet they sound fabulous Have to say Oli the finish on these speakers is nothing sort of spectacular, its like glass, easily passes the silk hankerchief test we used to use on the finished Alfa's & Ferrari's with ease. The depth of finish is superb like bottomless well. Also they are not that large, pretty much the same height as the E-1 Tx's although much deeper and wider. These use a genuine second generation CST driver made fro these speakers using the CR-1/R-1 technology with the 100Khz Be tweeter.
Sound wise, they have recieved around 24 hours now and they are starting to wake up, that said the difference between the superb E-1Tx's is readily apprant and it's not a 'oh yeah they are better one', its something else. However in two weeks time I will settle down to some critical listening then.
I understand Andrews (bencat) observation about the style of the GE-1, will not be for everyone and it's a valid one, although when you actually see, touch and listen in the flesh you may change your mind.

I'd expect these to sound great.
£55k is a heck of a lot of beans for most people on a set of speakers but of course I understand that's how it is, things are available at prices to suit everyone.
I do think with a speaker like this, there should be the option of a quality, well designed, fine fibre-mesh-cloth cover, that goes over all the drivers, as I say, well designed as to not really have any baring on the sound coming through.

We intend going to Cranage this year, it would be great to hear them.
I think you can always spot TAD speakers due to there quality, they are certainly not like many other manufacturers efforts.

Hello Robbie,
You are safe in the knowledge that they do come with matching driver covers included.

Yep, I spotted they have individual circular covers for each driver, I was more referring to the usual one complete cover, over all drivers, but hey ho - finish still does look lovely.

That depends if the home demonstration list is cleared by then Jason, due the extra time these have taken because of the back order a lot of folks are on the list for auditioning. They have been waiting long enough to be fair, these are most hotly anticipated speakers we have seen in a very long time. If a slot can be found in the programme then I'm happy to bring them along.
Mind you the R-1Tx's haven't had an outing yet? maybe the ideal time to do showcase them Jason, the room can handle it could the whippet thrashers though?

Time for an update on the Tad GE-1's, now with over solid 250 hours of use they are really starting to open up and deliver the Tad experinace as we all know & love here. A long standing client popped for a coffee on Wednesday, after 45 minutes of chatting he twisted my arm for a listen. I did mention these were not run in or set up correctly in the room. His wife was quite shocked at the presentation and used the term 'Ghost' speakers, I enquired why that particular word, she replied' they have completely disappeared from the room! nice analogy. The TAD Laboratories GE-1's are progressing well and I suspect this time next week we will be on the finial home straight. The last couple of days have also seen some different amplification being used a mighty Plinius A300 stereo power and the sublime Tad M700s. Shaping up top be frightfully decent speakers!
