This was up in Hartlepool yesterday, very well attended. I did take a handful of pictures: These are Allchris V-200 brought along by Steve himself: Lector CDP-7TL with valve output stage, brought along by Ali Moon Audio CD transport with modified Arcam DAC (belonging to Alan) into Mick's Pioneer monster receiver from 1976 Triangle speakers (I think Borea B8?) belonging to Gary. Liked these a lot probably because similar to what I use. Open sound but smooth and clean with it. Rack of equipment brought along by Ken, including LDA phono stage, Nord power amp, Pass pre-amp and his turntable (not sure what that was, most of it I think built by himself). There was also a dinky CD transport which I can't recall the make. Plus an Eversolo streamer. All three sources sounding excellent. Shown here running with some Canton CT1000 MK2 speakers. In the background are some vintage Magneplanar speakers belonging to Gordon. Interesting panel speaker, if you've hear QUAD ESL with a subwoofer, that's what these sounded like to me. Probably the best speaker for stereo imaging we had there, if you were sat dead central anyway. The Canton CT1000 were brought along by Mick and were something of an unexpected star of the show. Maybe not the most revealing speaker there, but just superb with blues, rock, funk. They had - as Ali put it - a 'meaty sound'. Great meet at a very good venue, many thanks to Steve for organizing another top NEBO event.

The Lector was mine that I sold to Ali in late November. Only rebook player I've heard that was better and not by much was the 4 box version owned by Keith (MF1000). Which you would have heard in the big room off the restaurant at the Stoke Wam show, I had my 2 box there also.

Long day I was up at 0430 so we could get there for kick-off time. So much equipment got brought along we probably didn't have a go on half of it. Managed to resist temptation to buy a JVC AX-Z1010 amp that was for sale there, even though I've always wanted one. Must be something wrong with me. One thing I always notice when stuff getting swapped in and out at these things - speakers are a big difference, everything else, not so much. 'What are we listening to now, is this the CD player or the streamer?' I don't drink anymore so was caned on just a pint and a half of Guinness - cheap night!

Thanks for posting the pictures and mini review, greatly appreciated. Feel free to let us know when the next one is happening That JVC has the same tech as the Reimyo DAC (K2) inside.... that could be one helluva integrated amp. There was a brand new one on PFM IIRC?

Has the K2 DAC as you say. 100 watts per channel into 8 ohm, heroic build quality. Maybe ten years ago now some bloke in Canada bought a warehouse full of JVC stock that had been left untouched from about 1989, all brand new in the boxes. There was a number of these amps amongst the hoard and that re-ignited some interest in them. I think there's a few people using them on PFM and other forums. Seen as a budget brand in the UK but they did some very serious kit that went well under the radar over here.

Regarding meets I'm looking to see if I can get one together here, late April early May if you or anyone else on here is interested?
I know the hospitality manager at the Hilton so might be able to get mate's rates on a conference room or rooms.
Will be a bit more expensive for anyone wanting to stop overnight on site, but there's just no cheapo places that tick all the boxes anymore.
The place I did it last time which was just perfect still hasn't re-opened so probably never will now.

I would endeavour to come though. Mark me down as very interested.

There was a brand new one for sale very recently for £800ish, which isn't ridiculous. I just don't need it, and it won't better what i have already so left it. It needed a step down, which i think would have to be meaty. I think it was on the WAM....or PFM....cant remember.

Had the cash on me no idea how I resisted it really. Except I've too many amps already.
