Another individual that really should be celebrated. This is a man who started out as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and then had a second job as a Garrard 301/401 Guru, well before the likes of Audio Grail, Classic Turntable company etc. Martin, designed, developed power supplies and help make popular the idea of supplying a clean and lowered voltage supply to these decks with his Wave mechanic PSU he also started decoupling the motor on his famous Max Planck plinths and modding bearings. I've met the man once. He lives up this bloody big hill in the middle of nowhere and a set of GPS co-ordinates is useful in finding his house!! I remember being picked up at the bottom of his hill in the smallest 4x4 ever known to man, woman, or sheep! The exhause pipe with thinner than a paper straw!!!!!! Nice guy, uses a Garrard and Harbeth speakers in his system. Martin likes to write a decent hand written letter and always answers his phone quoting his telephone number. Always polite and always happy to give advice. He's still working and moddind Garrards. A TRUE LEGEND!
PS He will never see this as he never writes on any forums and has never advertised his work on the Garrards.

It's fantastic to see love from the community for Dr. Martin Bastin.
In interest of accuracy, he has never been an orthopaedic surgeon, but has been a GP who had a part time post as a clinical assistant in a fracture clinic.
To confirm, he is still active and indeed quotes his telephone number upon answering phone calls. He has a mobile phone but this is a "dumb-phone" used for the occasional outgoing call only. GPS co-ordinates are actually useless and will direct people up the wrong lane. This only adds to his mystery.
Again, it is very heartwarming to see appreciation for Dr. Martin. He is indeed a true legend.
PS. I can confirm he has indeed seen this.
