They've taken the wind out of third party 'versions' too, especially with the AT95 EN model at a ton. Interestingly, the 500 models have dropped in price slightly too.
I suspect there's litle to touch them now, as all the competition is over a ton.
For what it's worth, it's said the the Leicester Linn guru that the AT 520 is today's K9.

I must admit to loving Audio Technica. They have made so many great carts and the VFM is remarkable today, definitely one of the good guys.

I’d love to find today’s K18. That was a very good MM to my ears.

First issue ones often collapsed. Mk2 models were very good, but I dare say an AT750 would possibly equal it today. The AT530 has similar naked stone and tapered cantilever. Late K9s came with llastic mounts and I thought the sound better for it personally. The Vital diamond is apparently a very well specified pukka elliptical, so nothing really fancy really.

Thanks, Dave I don’t know either of those carts, so it’s all great info. if I keep the Sonneteer Sedley I can have quite a bit of fun with carts. The PS6750 has a removable head shell so it’s easy to do. Arm height appears to be fixed so I will have to see if I can modify it.

Was it the cantilever/suspension that collapsed? I’ve heard you mention it before but haven’t any more knowledge than that. I’m always looking for K18s at a good price, so I figured it was worth knowing more if I’m to avoid a mistake,

Yes, I have a K9 stylus similarly afflicted. I believe there's some form of short tie wire anchor behind the suspension which should prevent this

Has anyone ever heard an AT that want good? I genuinely,y haven’t. I was playing with an AT91 and an F3 the other day. Neither are expensive carts and both were hugely enjoyable. Sure you can do better, but that doesn’t stop them from being great fun.

It snatches the batten from the 103sa and just runs with it! It has more detail to the top end but to be fair we are talking spherical over line contact so that's what i expected, the extra detail is very nice though.
It's very well balanced and doesn't seem to lack in any department so all in all im very happy with it.I'm hoping that when its used on a better arm i will get more of the same.
