Hi all
I've been searching for an audio / hifi forum and thought I'd give you lot a go!
I acquired my dad's old turntable a couple of years ago, it's an early 80s STD, with GLANZ cartridge. I already had an amp, CD player, and spaekers.
My main 2 reasons for joining are relating to keeping my dad's turntable working, and later this year I'm going to buy a new set up for a different room.
So I'll be looking for advice on both fronts at some point!
I was starting from scratch with my vinyl collection 2 years ago, and I've built it up to +40 LPs so far, with another ~25 acquired from a grandparents' dusty old collection.

Hi and welcome. We're also very good at spending other people's money. 😂😂😂 Yeah, for hifi spending being on this forum is like giving your PIN number to a bunch of crack addicts. Welcome! 😀

Welcome Daniel, the STD was a very good turntable by all accounts. No good asking me about tt's nowadays, sold all my vinyl paraphernalia, happy with my music files and streaming, but each to his own.

Thanks all. Yes, my name is Daniel! Where are you based? Makes it easier to offer onsite assistance if we know, unless its Outer Hebrides or similar.

Hi Daniel,
welcome to the forum.
As mentioned, nice guys with friendly advice on hand . . . . although often the advice will result in a financially poorer member. Haha . . . only joking, sort of . . . .
My approach has been to accumulate enough stuff, so that when you do want to buy something you can adopt a '1 in 1' out policy. Of course you need to build up a 'stock' to facilitate that approach, short term pain for long term gain! Also handy if an amp/turntable is away being repaired/upgraded etc, the music doesn't have to suffer!
Cheers
Chris

Good bunch on here, down to earth, sensible and fun group of genuine chaps, even if they do like vinyl!
A lot of well founded knowledge and advice can be obtained from this great place
