Probably in a few months i might get a new transport . been rather taken with a AN lookalike audiomecca kreatura a kind audiophile has lent me . it must be front loading , quiet running and aes output with decent support in UK so the Audionote CDTone/2 is about 600 quid more than a simaudio 260dt and one is trying to choose between the 2 . the AN is pretty deep and almost doesnt fit on the rack . there is a lovely midlands AN dealer nearby which helps Dimensions : 11.7" (300mm) W by 5.7" (145mm) H by 16.2" (415mm) D an cdt one 11 by , on Flickr an cdt one inside by , on Flickr they both come in silver www.stereophile.com/content/audio-note-cdt-oneii-cd-transport-dac-21x-signature-da-processorThe moon has a lovely big display and is cheaper . but which is better sonically thats the question I am pretty sure this pic has the dac in as well but maybe someone can advise Neo_260D_inside_0 by , on Flickr Neo-260D-silver-1024x1024-1 by , on Flickr which would you choose and why ?

Consider CD photodiode and mechnism spares availability Phil before picking one

I prefer the looks of the Audionote but Stereophile found that ''The transport's error correction is better than that required by the CD standard, but is not as good as other current transports.''
That alone would put me off it. Also it's top loading and you say you want front loading? And £3.5K?
The Simaudio doesn't look too bad. However someone on AoS had brand new one fairly recently and it was playing up practically from the off. He had a bit of a struggle to get a refund.
Could be a one of ofc.

Moon have a great rep, so I wouldn't be too worried about that issue TBH. Personally, I'd buy the TEAC.

Got to say I never even looked at what Audionote were offering lol. I didn't think they even did a CD transport because there's nothing for them to screw up 'Audionote style' - although seems they have managed to offer mediocre error-correction so there's that.

Yup, I have to say that AN is not on my list for anything, but they have garnered a ferocious following. Ah, the AES thing. I find that I keep going back to AES, but the TEAC certainly didn't seem to suffer for being SPDIF. It wouldn't stop me buying one, if I had room for all of the CDs

nowt wrong with SP/dif but if they didn't keep coming up with new gizmos no-one would replace perfectly good kit with new kit. I thought your streamer sounded identical to the TEAC so I don't think you need a TEAC But if you really want one just whittle down the CDs to the hundred or so you will actually listen to with any regularity and leave the rest in the garage.
