For sale is this absolutely beautiful Reiymo DAP-999EX DAC.
Retailing for £8995 when released into the world around 2013-14, the Reiymo DAP-999EX was hailed as "the best DAC in the world" by numerous magazines and reviewers.
The Reiymo had been on my "must try" list since reading about it all those years ago, and when the opportunity to buy one of these rare beasts arose, i snapped it up....you only live once. Well, the wife has decided that my one life will be cut very short if i do not put the money back into the bank that i spent on buying it. I can't complain, it was an impulse, and they say it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
So, here we are...legendary DAC with legendary BB1704 ladder chips in there, and boy oh boy can you see why they are legendary. The sound from this dac is SOOOOOO fluid. No nasty digital glare or artifice, just an abundance of detail, soundstage separation, refinement, texture and resolution to die for. To think they could do this with ladder dacs all this time!
The heart of this DAC is powered with Victor K2 technology, which if you have heard any K2 recordings you will understand why they went this way.
This is a very special DAC, and believe me, if domestic harmony wasn't in jeopardy it wouldn't be going anywhere. I am just grateful i got to hear one in my system.
Physical condition:
The faceplate is free from scratches or marks, certainly any that i can see. The lid is immaculate, and best of all, it has the original feet which were designed to improve resistance to external vibrations. Whether there is anything in that, i don't know.
Internally, the DAC is totally original, so it still has everything it left the factory with. It has not been harvested for its now VERY valuable BB1704 chips.
I will add some higher resolution images as soon as i get some decent light
Points of note:
This is a 117v unit (Japan) so you will need a step down transformer. I can include one IF the asking price is met.
**This DAC has ALL of the original packaging and will be sent via UPS in the UK**
Price is non-negotiable at £2600
