Any CD gurus out there? Will read the TOC but cannot play a disc.
Tried a different laser but not enough output from the photodiodes. Swapped the RF/servo chip, no different.

Yeah.. what you have to do is switch it off, then switch it back on again.

If it can read the TOC it's not the laser.
if you want an Audiolab Transport I have one here doing nothing. Original box, manual, remote. Just come and get it.

Silly question Alan, all aupply rails feeding the photodiode/servo drive control and sled mech are all present and correct? also has the sled hit the microswitch at the return position have know them do funning things on that score.
Will the player index up to a desrired track BUT tghen wont play or just refuses to index?

All supply rails good. All switches good.
Won't index.

Ok, its either the logic not instructing the sled to move, or the motor in the sled is dead (easy test) or signal from servo drive board to diode head (usually ribbon cable) may not be in or check those little tangs are free of crap.
Use DMM to measure the rails while looking tg the control signal on the scope to see if there are any way ard rail issues
