These have been on my mind for the last couple years. Yes, I'm talking about the later/current curved range, with claimed improved smoother sounding tweeter.
I want my endgame speaker to last me (at least) 20 years handle plenty power and high volume. Sometimes I like to listen loud. I've been reading that SCM 11 does all of this well. Along with good midrange and tight controlled bass.
Has anyone heard SCM 11?

ATC have a philosophy and stick to it come rain or shine... You'll need a couple of hundred Watts a channel to play them loud, but small inefficient boxes, some bass and high volume don't match,no matter who makes them. For costs, one of the Yamaha Pro amps under a grand would do here and there's shedloads of others... 150 WPC was a reasonable minimum for the larger passive 20's I used to have - that infamous bake off had 11's with a sub and a Hegel? amp compared to AVI DM10's and then a huge pair of Sentry III's I recall -- the thread may still be on HFS. ATC passives can sound flat in terms of perspective, peaky in the upper mid these days as monitors can be, dead and airless most of the time (to me obviously) - the ultimate low sensitivity speaker as discussed here. The now expensive smaller actives far more convincing but six grand for the smallest. Shane, have you heard Genelec, KRK and other funky active pro monitor types under a grand? Maybe too aggressive, but there's a whole world of speakers that domestic users just don't know about.
You must listen for yourself Shane. You may love them as I did the 20's when I first heard them (they were £1250pr then - current ones passive are four grand now)... In pro circles, active is where it's at today and ATC's pro market starts at around six grand now My 20ASL Pros had SL drivers, curvy metal cabs and amps built in, but the bass wasn't right for me.

However, ATC say the bass response has a lower limit of 52hz or thereabouts and in that they are spot on. The bass doesn't fall away or rolled off gradually, it is truncated at that frequency so there is nothing at all below that. On the plus side though the bass is very well controlled.

JBL Control Ones are similarly maligned as they go into so many small eateries and bars etc. I was surprised how good the midrange was, even though I couldn't live with them as main speakers due to lack of any bass weight.
I don't know the Zingali's, but many around and about like them a lot and I dare say they're tons more efficient than any passive ATC's - active ATC's with no passive crossover have a minimum of 200W for bass I believe and my gawd they need it on old experiences!
