Hi All So this thread will document my Wolverine build, this will be a winter project as I do not have much time to devote to to DIY things atm so it's likely to take some time. Time eaten up by work and domestic projects - new windows etc. Anyway , the Wolverines is a DIY forums Class A/B amp which can deliver reasonable amounts of power on rails up to 70V. DIY Audio thread below, for those interested Wolverine Thread
I have done a lot of research on various related topics, PSUs etc and have come up with the following base spec for me. Mono blocs so 2 of the following PSU TX 2*42V @ 400VA gives about 60V for the rails so about 160 W into 8ohms, plenty enough for me. Active rectification 44k uf caps per rail I have some Mundorf whoppers I sourced in a sale a while back . Soft start, I have some boards for this but am undecided as I have found some others that allow an unlatching on/off button to be used so will probably use these instead. Speaker protection, maybe Neurochrome. Need to source some cases, Modushop do some but will need to look at others , the main pcbs are quite long so this limits choice. The BOM is quite long so I'll source this in stages as founds allow and there are choices on various parts I need to make , power semis etc before committing . Anyhow some pcb pics to get the ball rolling. Cheers EN

Ahhh the beginning of the winter build projects. Ha, yeah, not quite got the central heating on yet! Me neither mate but I do sit next door to a bloody big valve amp which probably costs as much to run as the central heating!!!

Well , looking at the BOM there are options for 10k or 22k impedence. So I think 10k should be fine for my DCB1 .

I'm going to test my understanding of psus and their circuits. Bought a cheap 2*28 volt secondary toroidy for 12 quid and some cheap caps and rectifiers to see is what I think happens is what actually happens! Lol. Never built a psu from scratch, so I figured it's better to play with some low voltage bits 1st. Then I can add in the active rectifiers and see what happens before ordering some o cores from James. Then the real fun can begin 🫣

Thanks chaps, they will get done but spare time seems to be at a premium atm for some reason ! But like with all my builds I do a lot of research before committing and as this is the most complex yet due to the fact I have not built a power amp yet and have had to research power supplies for class A/B etc. Still it's on the road!
