Oli, was curious what Angus had said to put you off regarding the P6 monos? I compared them to my 86 at an Owston- only a quick comparison on unfamiliar gear- and in the short time I had to listen I was struggling to hear much if any difference. It wasn't so much "put me off" but more pointed out something I had overlooked in the use of MOSFETs, which means which was a reason we turned away from them previously. It's not a slight on the P6, which I am sure are super, but I don't believe they are capable of hitting the THD+N that the Purifi and 686 reach, and that's important to me. Odd reason to rule something out, but there you have it

I’ll ask Nick what they measure at.

Quick look on the Longdog website- distortion less than 0.002%, more like 0.0004% @ 1kh 1W. Not too shabby. :-)

Anyhow, we’re going through to my place this weekend so will get a chance to have a proper listen. Looking forward to it.

It has inaudible levels of noise and distortion, it can handle difficult loads, it has enough power for vast majority of situations.
It's as good as it gets
before anyone asks yes I have 'heard' them multiple times although as with any properly designed amplifier there is nothing to 'hear' - other than the music being played through it.
Unless you really need more watts than 130 there is no value in spending more, or swapping it for something else.

I am sure that they are excellent amplifiers, as my previous experience of Nick's amps left me very impressed.
The conversation with Angus reminded me of my enthusiasm to try a Purifi, and as one was available at a mere £1400 less than the P6 amps, the choice was made for me.
There shouldn't be any idea that I made the decision for anything other than purely numerical reasoning.

I have heard the Longdogs and one of the best amps I have ever heard (or not as the case may be)
