Today I have been a muppet and snapped the cantilever on my OC9xML whilst putting the guard on of all things.
I could possibly stretch a tad but would really like to keep the cost at sub £700. I am after all trying to reduce my investment in vinyl replay. My Bardo + 12" Enterprise mk4 will soon appear in the classifieds.
Cart will be going on an Acoustic Signature Manfred ii with AS TA-700 arm.
No Koetsu BGLs, been there done it and got the Koetsu T shirt.

Sorry to hear that John, didn't you like the AT since a new one comes in under budget, and sound per pound AT are as good as it gets, or so I've read.

They just arent "Prestige" enough for some of the guys out there with big budgets, but I have never personally heard a bad AT cart. I'd love a listen to this: www.audio-technica.com/en-gb/at-art1000

Just had it offered to me for £265, but not sure I want to go that low + an Eliptical at that. Will wait and see what turns up as have a RigB VM95ML on at the moment which is stupidly good for the money, and only paid £80 for it with 100 hrs on.

Yeah I know but at the moment I'm struggling to get past the fact I only paid £155 (130hrs) for the one I buggered. New they're £460ish so wondering what else is out there for similar money.

Ah, fair enough . . . actually didn't realise it was eliptical, I actually assumed it was an ML . . . in which case a new AT-OC9xml would be my updated recommendation. I love an ML stylus.

AT33SA if you can find one, is actually an incredible cartridge for the money. The Shibata stylus has a positive effect on these carts and is, IMHE, the only place a Shibata has worked well on a cartridge for me. The AT33PTGII is Stella too, and they are cheap as chips. Now, an AT33FGS would be something that interests me....if only such a thing existed.

You can't be living in the past regarding prices, only today I've just seen an advert from Viva Tubes of the USA, I purchased a quad of Sovtek 6550WE's 1yr 9mths ago for $177, today $400.

The £155 was only in April, so <£225 used now would be okay with me.

😂😂 Them spikes would certainly make more robust cantilevers.

Went to a garden today and found your perfect vfm replacement! I'm sure Mijayama make cantilevers out of bamboo or something similarly bonkers. Maybe we should all try Prickly Pear.

NOW SORTED. Have grabbed a 130hr Cadenza Blue on PFM for £700, top of my budget but still vfm I think considering the rrp, and shouldn't lose to much if I don't like it.
