I have just read on another forum and my dealers website, things about isolation platforms. Are they any good? Was thinking about 2 or 3 for my amps. I have a glass based large TV unit with the 2 mono amps sat at the end and a PS Audio Pre/Dac sitting on top of them, in the middle. I would put a pic on here, but do not know how to

Pete
Can I make a suggestion here, before spending ANY more money, wait until you have your Amp's and they are run in first.
Then when you have worked out exactly what you are looking for then go about the hunt for further progress, the internet is both a frined and an enemy slow down, take your time I promise it will pay dividens in the long run.

I don't necessarily subscribe to isolation platforms not making differences in solid state gear, but I do think that very similar results can be has by using certain types of replacement feet. However, one size does not fit all and using the same feet on my amp as I did the preamp was hugely detrimental to the sound. I use squishy feet under my pre/phonostage/DAC and under any external PSU. The amplifier has hard aluminium feet, as does the TT. This works for me, but that's in my room. You need to experiment, and until your speakers have bedded in, I wouldn't worry too much, as T said. Plenty of time for experimentation.

I get that, I have a couple of packs of those black squishy things (16), that I bought a few months ago but did not open, and will use my Superspikes on the new speakers when they come, until some Gaia's come along

Don't get led down that road, enjoy what you have, you'd only be wasting money

Agree with most of these comments, however, I've had good results using isolation platforms under TT's, mainly Townshend, you can always build your own. I also use solid bamboo chopping blocks with sorbothane footers underneath gear with heavy/mutiple transformers but this is only to try and minimise vibration getting into my rack and then into my TT. I cant comment about other SS gear such as CD/DAC's or streamers because I don't use them and never will!

Another vote for bamboo chopping boards with something squishy underneath. Mine are on glass shelves and I thought this would be the best solution.
