Got a stylus with a bit of gunk on it that will not come off with a brush. Has anyone a tried and tested way to encourage it off?

AT637 or Goldring ultrasonic is your friend for sorting this. The 637 I've had since the late 80s. The Goldring is spare, if its of interest to you I could be persuaded to sell it. Can be used dry or with a drop of stylus juice for stuborn cack.

Having now sold the Goldring one, its sods law that after nearly 40 years of sterling service my AT637 is going to go terminal and I will have to source another at silly money. 😂😂 Paid £7.99 for it in 87 they're now going for £100+ on fleabay. 🤯

Can I look at it for you John? All is good at the moment Alen, was just a jokey comment that it will probably die now I not have a spare.

I have been known to use scalpels and tweezers under a magnifier to remove gunk from “worn out” LOMC cartridges - 2 Linn Asaka’s are still in my vinyl system as a result (unplayed for a year now though!).

Update on this. My brother took up John on his offer. Within minutes of its arrival he had the gunk of the stylus and normal service has now returned. Another great outcome from this fab forum.
