Just in case anyone is wanting to do their toes in streaming the Wiim devices are getting great reviews. Both the Mini and the Mini Pro versions are on offer at Amazon, £77 and £127 respectively. Ha..funnily enough I just got a WiiM pro. Paid £150 though (doh!!). Hey ho.
Got it for the kitchen to replace a pi/Allo boss streamer.
It’s really good. Just using line out into an ancient linn classic, using the WiiM app. Has the capability of using a separate dac
.. which I can’t be arsed to to, but might give it a whirl one day.
Also as the app has its own digital volume I may just use a little power amp I’ve got kicking about.
Great for a plug n play thing though..

I also recently bought one, bloody brilliant, easily as good as a Node2. Definitely punches well above its price point, am feeding it via optical into a DacMagic Plus with Tx LPS wallwart as headphone amp and also stick it in system 2.

Has anyone had a play with the parametric EQ on it ? I use the parametric EQ on Roon, which is a lot more sophisticated. However, with the ability to stream Qobuz directly I have to decide soon whether to drop Roon or not.. so it’s handy to know that the WiiM has this capability (bass boost mainly) |
