Picked up a Technics tape deck the other day. I seem to be collating a few 70's Japanese pieces of late, no bad thing considering the quality of the gear from those classic brands. I've got a fair few (20 or so) tapes that are not available in any other format (bloody hipster producers). So it's basically just to play them. Everything works as it should, it's quiet and it actually sounds really good. Not much hiss or background noise which allows that dynamic, analogue low end to come through very well. There is hardly a mark on it either, it looks brand new. It's been re-capped and serviced, there isn't even any dust or grime inside . . . . it genuinely looks a couple of years old. Pretty chuffed with it as it was a bargain too.
