Due to popular demand, I'm back touring this area for another few years (lol) so this should help you chaps in setting up your Mutec's to achieve optimum peformance and simply illustrate which connections to use and how it relates on the front panel lights.
Its not an absolute BUT it will enable you view for yourself if you are getting the correct traffic light sequence
Pleasae bear in mind that the first column on the right shows the sample rate and is showing 48Khz this is simply because the audio analyser was supplying the digital audio test signal, it can read up to 192Khz in this mode.
If using a word clock output mode it can read up to 768Khz
These two inputs can confuse people so Yellow Arrow 10Mhz input, Red Arrow SPDIF_BNC INPUT
AES XLR Input & 10Mhz refence clock input
USB Input & 10Mhz reference input
ALL digital audio outputs which can be used at the same time
All Word Clock Outputs again all can be used at the same time
Now how the front panel indicitors should look locking onto & playing music
AES Input NO 10Mhz clock
AES Input WITH 10MHz Clock
SPDIF_BNC INPUT NO CLOCK
SPDIF_BNC INPUT WITH Clock
USB INPUT NO CLOCK
USB Input with 10Mhz Clock

Sorry Tony haven't you got the SPDIF no clock showing 10MHz input?

YUP, good spot Alan. I have edited. ✅

Great work Tony, thank you so much. A couple of times now I’ve been experimenting with other inputs and lost my settings. This will be invaluable and I’ve saved it on my favourites list.

Morning Chaps
Apologues for the over sight I have readdressed this with an updated post and included the missing iamge now.
Also I felt this maybe helpful for a few of you, below is the image of the 10Mhz word clock input for just the word clock distribtuon mode handy to see if your Mutec is recieving a 10Mhz clock
MC3+USB in Word clock distribution mode only

I was able to snag a pre-owned MC-3+ USB on Ebay and get the lights and controls to operate after doing a factory reset. But when I set it up for USB in and SPDIF/BNC out, the blue <Lock Main Ref> light blinks rather than illuminating steadily... and no sound comes out. I can't find anything in the manual about a blinking <Lock Main Ref> light.
If I bypass the MC-3 either PC>DAC or CDT>DAC, it's still working fine. Any ideas?

Blinking blue light indicates to me a nonstable signal, you have got the pc set to PCM and not bit stream?
Does this also apply if you use an spdif or aes /light pipe in from the CD transport?

Try a different USB?...sounds obvious but I tried three when I had the USB card in. Only one made connection.

The fact the CD<>Dac works via non usb, would indicate imho a fault with the mutec

The player says PCM 16/44 > PCM 16/44 and does not seem to have a "stream from local file" option, so seems to be PCM.
When I use SPDIF In (bottom BNC) from the CD transport, the Lock light doesn't come on and no sound. (mode= Intern & Re-Clk. Top 3 Reference lights are on. Clock multipliers = top row only. Nothing in Status bank.) The fact the CD<>Dac works via non usb, would indicate imho a fault with the mutec Emm.

If you go back to the CD transport you need to use the AES3 BNC input on the back of the Mutec and the normal looking RCA is the oputput to the dac see set up below BNC (SPDIF) input is the yellow arrow
The use this set up on the Front panel for the spdif (BNC) settings
That should produce a lock and sound, if the light (blue) is flashing then the Mutec is accepting / receiving a lock signal.
If this is the case send it to me and I will check it out for you Bruce.
Is this a black version BTW, I do know of one kicking about that isn't shall we say 100%

So... When I set the Reference to SPDIF/BNC and input is the Red Arrow above, I get the blinking blue <Lock Main Ref> and red <Audio> LED... but still no sound. Plugging input to the yellow arrow gets no Status lights or sound, and I think the you meant to specify BNC input as the red arrow as the back panel labels seem to indicate.
Yes, I'll msg you about sending to have it checked out.
