A couple of years ago I bought a used Arcam A65 and a couple of pairs of little Wharfedale Diamond speakers for my daughter's hairdresser shop, with a little stereo>mono convertor thing so each room could have one speaker.
Well now she has moved to a better premises and is going down the Sonos route she tells me, and so has given me her old stuff.
In my current second set up I have an Echo dot going into an Amptastic Mini-one, to a pair of Celestion 5s. This is on 24/7 and has run without issues for nearly 5 years now. but I'm thinking of replacing the Amptastic with the Arcam for more connection possibilities, and to run a sub (I think I read somewhere that chip amps don't like subs).
Question is, can I leave the Arcam permanently switched on? If I had to power it up every time I wanted to ask Alexa for something, well that's too much of a faff.

Should be fine, you will reduce its service life though.
The Ampastic should be fine with a sub can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be.

I did have the sub running with it for a while, until I (mis)read something about them not liking it. Connections do get a bit crowded when adding sub, Amptastic not much bigger than a fag packet. I'll try the Arcam, and if I find no sonic advantage I'll just sell it. Probably flog the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0s as well, they're not likely to be an improvement over the Celestion 5s.

i only buy an arcam amp if i can leave it in standby . my a85 is always on standby . i do leave my bc stuff on 24/7 as its designed to do that some audionote dacs are designed to be left on 24/7 i think

Not sure how you design something to be left on all the time?
Do you mean a standby function? My DAC and transport always sit in standby but only because I'm too idle to turn them off.

The only audio equipment I keep permantly on are the Wadia dac & reference Mutec clock.
There are arguments for leaving big power amps switched on 24/7 due to thermal cycling and large turn on currents.
Possibly older large solid state brusiers and valve monos but these days really shouldn't be an issue
Oddly enough I was looking at current draw on various audio kit this week.
The Mutec MC3+usb uses around 800mA when using the usb innput on larger sample rates with the LED's on
My own MC3's use 688 with AES on 192Khz and 625mA with front panels lights off that's 63mA more may not sound like a great deal but it makes a difference to both power consumption and SQ
