You mean you get paid? I do it for free, because being a grumpy shoite is fun Perhaps, as a professional, you could give some tips. Because folk still come round at Christmas, despite my best efforts.

All present shopping never exceeds Β£50 from personal funds. Mum gives me Β£60 cash Xmas day so 3 grandkids get Β£20 each. Last year Zero personal funds spent as had enough nectar points to buy each a bottle, result! Don't get anyone round luckily, but Xmas, morn pop to mums, then sons followed by Crem for dad, after it's off to see girls and Grandsons (all under 9 so plastic happy head on for 20 mins), all done and home in 3 hrs. Dinner I will nuke what's left of Chinese/Indian.

Whenever possible it's always better to do the visiting, rather than be the visited. That way you have some control over the duration of the visit. Nowt worse than folk overstaying. Some are even oblivious to hints such as changing into your jammies and turning lights off

@pigmy Pony Who would that be, or are you talking about yourself.

@pigmy Pony Who would that be, or are you talking about yourself. You know me so well already. Another good way to give overstayers the hint is to make a cup of Horlicks for yourself and the missus without offering them one. But as I can't stand Horlicks I would instead bring out my Frank Zappa records.

mikeyb That Christmas tree looks smashing, with the two bah humbug old bugg#rs living here the only concession to Christmas are a few cards on the mantlepiece.

Luckily this year I've avoided the clutter of cards. I think maybe after 10yrs of none from me the neighbours have finally got the message so, haven't bothered sticking any through my door. On another bonus for me, thanks to my heavy bout of the lurgy I will be staying put indoors on the 25th. Just me, some choons and a 5lb leg of lamb I picked up for Β£15 this morning. Bliss!

We are finally getting rid of the Xmas dec's. Personally, I can't be doing with the extended celebration stuff, I like to have a few quite days and then start the new year with a bang (no not that type of a bang)!!

I'm forbidden to take down the tree until at least 6th Jan. It's normally gone by 9:45am on that day.
