So I am considering a Node as my pi is ok but seems a bit flaky sometimes. Especially when it has up dated , there is always something that seems to stop it working properly again and I have to spend time sorting it out which is a pain in the a.
So looking for a user friendly streamer/dac which is fairly fool proof - lol, and all my reading points to a node for ease of use etc .
Not to worried about ultimate sound quality as I use the dac for background music and the telly plus radio.
I understand the psu can be upgraded and also I can add a better dac on sometime but atm my main aim is ease of streaming - Spotify so it seems to fit the bill.
Before I pull the trigger I thought I'd ask the forum digigurus if I am missing something, budget about 500 .
Cheers EN

If you're having issues with your Pi setup then it's probably the software you're using, Volumio by any chance? Or if you're WiFi only then the WiFi on earlier Pi models isn't great either.
Moode and PiCorePlayer are much more stable.
I had no end of issues with Volumio, so went to Moode Audio and was rock solid.
Node is a good choice though

Yamaha wxc 50 great performance, software, good user interface, ยฃ250 new. I think they still do them if not look used.
Multi room capability if you want it in the future.
A five year old can set up and use. I have one. Lol

Yep Node is a great piece of kit, had mine 6 years now and no problems + receives regular updates from Bluesound. Have Pimped mine (Polish PS board & SBooster) run via my Mutec and Pimped Black Ice Glass fx DSD I reckon I'd have to spend silly money to beat it for SQ. BluOS app has Spotify Connect built in + Radio Paradise and all the mainstream streaming sites, and is a doddle to use. Theres one here (a 2i) that's already Pimped and is a stonking price. hifiwigwam.com/forum/threads/bluesound-node-2i-with-linear-power-supply-upgrade-and-lpsu.112675/

This is an effective up, we produce an improved version of the Polish one (which is a nice design) and this two with a quality psu make it very viable for a coupleof steps up the ladder of entry level streaming, much nicer GUI and the fact it just works is a great incentive.

SBooster seems to be given good reports, maybe you could ask Oli to make you one if he has the time.

Yep SBooster is the one, I started out with a Chifi one to get me going. Then got a used LDA/MCRU (Long Dog Audio) was not impressed with that, SQ no better than the Chifi, finally grabbed the SBooster for a good price and it was a real step up, have since added the Ultra (extension/add-on) to it for another nice boost in SQ.

I'm Andy, Oliver is Bigman80.
I could make a PSU with some pointers probably, but would need a converter board to replace the smps in the main unit.
Anyway, need to get it delivered , working and listened to first! ๐

electronumpty Should have bought my Aries, comes with it's own LPS. I did consider it and look it up, but needed a DAC too and the Node looks more plug and play so to speak. Didn't want to buy another separate DAC.

Didn't want to buy another separate DAC. You do need a dac with the Aries, with you wanting an all in one I would have gone with www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403677484386?hash=item5dfd0d9562:

This was a major reason for me choosing the Node, all good reports on that front. ๐คฃ

@electonumpty If Oli could use the interface I'm sure you could Not only that you would only have one box rather than two.

electronumpty I can possibly sort you the replacement for the one that's gone awol. I'm currently evaluating a dcs Network bridge against my Pimped Node2 (Polish interface board) up to you whether you build your own LPS or I can supply one of my Chifi ones. Just give me the weekend to decide whether to move it on, if I do you can have 1st dibs if you want.
