Cor, it's quiet in this part of the forum.
Any headphone users here now?
If so, why and what do you like, and how much and when do you use them?

I must admit that despite having what I feel sure are my long term keeper loudspeakers I do rather like a bit of headphone listening.
Mostly it's because I'm an early riser and the Mrs isn't, and I'm also currently 'suffering' from fairly frequent insomnia. Mustn't disturb the mrs' beauty sleep. But I have to listen to music.
So yes, the headphones usually go on from 3am or a bit later depending when I wake up to around 10am.
But I also quite often do some headphone listening during the mrs' waking hours just for the fun of it.

Yes, I’ve done a lot more headphone listening of late. To be honest, and truth be told, it’s mainly because I’ve got a certain level of dissatisfaction with my Technic speakers. They’ve got to go. Anyway, more than happy with my Oppo headphones (can’t remember the model) playing through the mojo and poly. I even upgraded the WiFi with BT discs do that I got a better signal round the house. Worked a treat.

My headphones seem to be redundant at the moment except for an occasional listen to YouTube via my laptop.

Until a couple of years ago I used to really dislike planar magnetic headphones, regardless of cost. And I tried up to around £3k rrp iirc.
But of late I've come around and really enjoy my Oppo PM3 closed back planar mags. My other main closed back (for when the Mrs is getting her 8 hours) are Focal Elegia dynamic headphones. On balance I prefer the Focals, and they get most use, but I still enjoy the Oppo now and then, just for a change.
My other main pair are Hifiman Deva planar magnetic open backs. Quite delightful things with a lively open, spacious and HiRez sound. The plug in Bluetooth dongle is frankly a waste of money, and I don't use it. I really love Bluetooth done well, but this is done badly with a closed in, muffled and slow presentation. If the Devas fail I'll get another pair but if I bought new (an out and out bargain imo) I'd not get the optional Bluetooth dongle.
