Bigman made me a very nice set of SAEC 3000 Triple C XLR interconnects using AECO pure copper plugs and today they were up against a set of Organic Reference RCA's. Firstly, Oli has done an excellent job in making up the interconnects and so a big thank you. I know this is not a level bake-off, we're using different connectors, just thought some on here might be interested in our findings. We firstly played a few of our favourite songs with the Triple C in the system, and then changed the cables over and started again in reverse order. It did not take me long before I commented to my brother, "these sound fuller bodied" and as the music continued I felt they also sounded more natural. I can't say whether one cable was more detailed than the other, it is just as the sound came across to me, I think my brother felt the same. The Organic cables are at least double the price, the company make their own RCA's and I have to say they are the best RCA connector I have ever seen or used. They are the cables with the copper coloured connectors as you scan down the link. organicaudio.eu/products.aspx#Produkt_2

I did a cable review for Hifi Pig that included pairs of the same cable but different RCA plugs. It was the first time I'd done that sort of comparison, rather expecting the plugs to make little difference... Wrong!! I was surprised and a bit shocked how much difference the plugs made.

karma67 Organic make their own RCA's and don't use any brass, only the same copper as used in the cables. The info is all there in the link.

karma67 Sorry mis-understood your post but it's as clear as mud now. I do know you prefer copper by the way, although you haven't heard my pure silver interconnect which Oli made up for me and he liked that, used pure copper plugs on it though. I think @pigmy pony may have heard it.

Were the XLR connectors soldered on?

Hi Dave,
I think you have be quite careful in this comparison, as the difference in sound could likely be coming from them being XLR rather than RCA. Whilst that doesn't affect the cable you and Mark prefer, it can skew the fairness of the comparison. Those cables with RCAs plugs would be a completely different proposition, but possibly wouldn't change your preference.
The difference between OCC and CCC (in my system) has been mainly creating a better balance from HF to LF. I find that OCC bounces like a toddler on E numbers in the LF. The LF becomes fruity and uncontrolled. This is a particular issue in my room, but i have heard those exact characteristics occur in Jason's system recently when we added the OCC speaker cable, but if the system/room you have there doesn't suffer from the ill effects of that, I can see how that could be a positive.
However, these Organic cables are OFC? Purity of the Copper isn't an issue either as its literally 99.999 Vs 99.996, which in the grand scheme of a conductor is absolutely irrelevant. I am pretty sure the difference was the XLR Vs RCA, rather than the cable itself. I have 99.99998% OFC here, which i can tell you is rarer than rocking horse droppings, I've compared it to OCC, Silver, CCC and other coppers of lesser purity. The Silver you have in your cable is 99.98%, but its way better than some 99.999 silver i have heard. I am not convinced purity is the issue.
Sorry, i'm rambling....
At least you had a go!
How many hours did you have on them when you did the comparison?

@bigman80 I did say it was not a level bake-off due to different connectors, but I did promise you a short review of them. I wouldn't call the Organic bouncy compared to the XLR cable, just more natural, I'm sure you will have the chance to hear them in the future and compare with your RCA Triple C cables.

I am always up for a listen mate, you know that. Yup, confused myself, i was talking about two different things at the same time. I was refering to OCC, not the Organics/ Yeah, i find it mega interesting how these cables all have such audible difference and try to diagnose why. Apologies for the ramble lol

You'll have to show me a comparison of triple C bass one day.

I still don’t buy that a slightly lower grain boundary is going to remove “bouncy” bass. I think some of this is likely to be related to your room?
As for the SAEC cable, what is the dielectric?
