Just had a good friend say I must listen to the PMC TWENTY5 23I SPEAKERS, what do they do that is better than my Amphion 3 LS. (just need a rough guess before a long drive to go hear some)

nothing - in fact if you asked me to pick one of the two it would be the Amphion all day.

Would definitely choose Amphion over PMC from what I’ve heard. The last Leamington Spa show I went to, Amphions were the best I heard there.

I would take these PMC over the Amphions though (but they are nine grand): I had a listen to the domestic version (same but with real wood veneer) with an all-Luxman system and it really did everything without being too explicit. The PMC domestic stuff is okay but I think there are lots of better, cheaper speakers about.

was talking with a friend who has just bought some 40k PMC and he mentioned they can be a bit unforgiving on some bad recordings . i guess they are designed for studios . I do love the amphions and there is defo more performance to be had from yours . incidentally he uses the ps audio bhk pre and and bhk monos which could also be an upgrade path

I reckon with a pair of Rel subs, I will have a system that will see me OK for a few years... then when I peg it, the other half can sell it all for next to nothing

I genuinely skipped all the pmc's and atc speakers from the last studio we purchased nothing on earth could pursue me to personally own pmc speakers Prodominately mediocre crap

I've never liked a single set of pmc's I've heard. Some ATC are great, especially if all you care about is bass guitar...

Yeah they look good. Cardoid midrange, minus 3dB at 21Hz. Come on! Might put them on my shortlist.

The Krypton speakers are good, so I heard, if they had been around a few years ago, I would have demoed them, but like a lot of people in the UK, priorities (read that as ££££) has had to change with the times sadly plus declining mobility

70 Kilos each though, I'd have to join a gym.
Doesn't look like any UK dealers have them in stock.

Just think I should spend some of it on something tangible so I feel like I got something out of it.

Eight years ago I spent most of my inheritance money on hifi, stuff I would never have afforded otherwise. My brother thought I was daft. I still have all that kit, which I enjoy almost every day. All of his ended up in the pub toilet.

Could do a lot worse than spend it on the hobby you love.

I bought all my gear with my small inheritance, I would prob not change it, except on getting M1200 amps instead of the M700

It’s funny when your working that whatever income, it’s all in demand. I would have really regretted not going for it when funds appeared.

That was my thinking too, and I have no regrets (well one - if I'd been a forum member back then I could have had wise counsel guide me towards more bang for my buck)
