Very rare, Tad thought they were going to sell well, sound excellent but let's be honest they are fugly Still have a sealed new pair, they weren't expensive new around 4.5k from memory
More studio them home audio but hint at what is possible for sensible money

Not my cup of tea - hate rear ported speakers as I always think thy are a compromise (limits where they can be located in a room...)

I'm with Oli, don't think they look too bad, having posted the link on here I looked them up on the net, a couple of mentions, one saying the best nearfield speaker and the cost when new $2k, also they look like side ports, if that makes any difference.

macca How much bass do you need for nearfield listening, they may have enough for many people.

macca How much bass do you need for nearfield listening, they may have enough for many people. they roll off pretty sharp after 100Hz, you might get a bit more out of them close to wall but it really isn't enough no matter how close you sit to them. Flat in room to 45Hz is really the bare minimum for me, which I have now, and even then I notice that the deep bass just isn't there on some tunes compared to my old Celestion A2 or IMF TLS50 Not a compromise I would be happy to make if spending that much on speakers. Plus they're only a two-way so hamstrung from the start. I like the look of them though and I like TAD speakers generally, they are properly engineered. They probably better than most passive two-ways you could buy for the money.

Not my cup of tea - hate rear ported speakers as I always think thy are a compromise (limits where they can be located in a room...) It's always a trade off. Yes, rear ported speakers generally have to be further from the wall behind, however, you can use foam bungs or wadding to alleviate issues. Two way systems will always have some mid range port leakage and this is worse on front ported speakers - it is a measurable phenomenon. A rear port lessens the midrange leakage problem. This isn't generally a problem with a 3 way design, as midrange is usually in a separate enclosure. The port(s) on a 3 way are usually only in the bass driver chamber, so separate from midrange. As with all these things, it's never straightforward.

We have a pair in one of the remixing studios, along with some active Focal's which are more than sufficent for that particular application anything else we use CR-1's
