Not a fan here. If there was a better attenuator between the two buffers it would be excellent.
I know that unit.

I have to ask, why?
Didn't you just snap up a BPBP recently?
Is that not doing the job, or is this just a curiosity?

Total, bonkers rave reviews from some folks. I bought one.
Mine had an unhelpful volume 'law'. Stayed low volume for most of the knob rotation, then wanged right up for the last 20%. Also noise issues above a certain level and left right imbalance issues. I returned mine as faulty. It didn't sound 'bad' but I was baffled by the hype. Maybe my experience was of a faulty unit.

It wasn't quite beer token money but not far off, so I won't lose much if I don't like it in my system. I've heard this particular unit before with DIY Aleph 60 monoblocks and liked what I heard. This works really well with my DIY Pass F6.

Measured on ASR (although it's quite possible that no two units are exactly alike). Not that bad although far from great and not worth the RRP. There are safety considerations raised with one of the units pictured so you might want to check that. If you can't be bothered to read the thread, the designer comes on it later and fails to cover himself in glory. www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-truth-pre-amp-review.23815/

Looked at the ASR thread, i think the pics of the internal build would put me off straight away.

The SNR and channel balance of these devices is not class leading.
I had one here and I literally listened to the soundstage panning left to right....all on its own.
I copped some flack off the Stereo Coffee guy who also failed spectacularly to justify the absolutely ridiculous idea of using a component that drifts in value whilst in use.
Sorry Ian, I am really trying to be as kind as I can, and I'm sure you won't give a damn if it sounds as you'd like it to.

Poor Ian, he'll be wishing he'd never told anyone :hugs: I've cleaned the thread up a bit. Ventured off into the negative, which isnt very nice, so tidied it up a bit. I'd actually like to know what Is. Thinks Vs the BPBP

Poor Ian, he'll be wishing he'd never told anyone :hugs: Yes, I get that. But Ian says he heard it before he bought it, so he knows he likes it and that it works well for him on his system. So job done. And *sucks* to the nay sayers. As I said in my first post, there are some amazingly positive vibes for it out there, both in pro reviews and user comments. He's not alone in liking it! He's just picked a particularly difficult Wednesday matinee audience here on AA.
