Recently whilst clearing out a relatives house we have come across boxes and boxes full of boxed and unboxed valves of various makes and types. The owner was a radio and tv engineer. We have collated half of them and still working through the rest.
We have no idea as to any of the values of any and have no way of testing them . a lot look unused as they are in the box wrapped in card or paper (as new)
We have been told some could be rare and sort after.
Advice please as to the best thing to do with them as we dont want them to just go to land fill, as some of them are like works of art.

Take pictures and catalogue them as best you can,
granted that is a lot of effort so might be best to just take pictures of a few boxes (showing identification numbers/brands etc) as best you can with a few examples of the different boxes/brands in one picture (maybe get a few of the valves out if you can) as otherwise you'll be there forever.
We'll do our best to help you identify any that will be of interest or have decent value I'm sure.
Don't send them to landfill!!
With the current amount of valves available diminshing and prices going up, finds like this can be a win for you and a win for the audiophile.
I'm sure a few on here will make you good offers on anything worth having.
Thanks for posting this one here, it's a great idea to do so.

Okay,
well the thing is there are lots of different varients of each brand, there are only a few varients which are commonly used in audio applications (although most can be) but the more commonly used ones will hold a lot more value.
It's up to you if you would be okay with people messaging you with requests for specific valves or if you want to mention some of the varients via identification numbers on the boxes and valves etc.
There are some common and quality brands in there some of which can be worth a lot of money so I would say it is well worth doing.
For example a Mullard ECC81 can go for a few pounds but certain ECC83's can go for hundreds per valve sometimes.
There's no way of saying unless the identification codes are also stated.
Sorry I know that's a pain in the arse, but you could be sitting on thousands of pounds worth of valves there so it's worth finding out I would suggest!

The Mullard EL84 and EL34 pairs will go for very good money, as will any KT66 you have.

Look at sold prices on ebay. Most NOS valves are sold with no returns and many untested. Doesn’t affect what they go for much.
