Hello audioaddicts, My first post on here despite lurking for a while. Oliver and Alan may remember me as I built a BB3 using a pre-populated board that Oli made for me earlier this year. Wonderful phono stage and for me it's as good as I will ever need - I couldn't believe how good it was when I first built it and still it surprises me in the detail it reveals in my record collection. Fantastic design from Alan with some really clever ideas like the parallel jfets in the MC input stage. I'm too embarrassed to post a picture of mine as I unashamedly copied Oli's build down to the same case and O core traffo! Currently looking to buy a decent R-2R ladder DAC. I have tried to buy the Soekris 2541 but have yet to receive any reply from Søren. Of all the forums I have lurked on this one feels most like home Current stuff... Tannoy Balmorals (Tannoy 12" K series drivers) Radford Revival STA25 - still waiting for this after 7 months! TVC pre amp from SACThailand using their SILK transformers Technics SL1200-GR BB3 phono stage Neil

Welcome Neil, don't talk daft, too embarrassed to post a piccie of your BB3, just because you've used the same case as Bigman. What amplifier are you using at present, it could be another year before that Radford arrives (Covid don'tcha know) Anyway let's have a pic of those Tannoys

It's a good case lol We are very pleased to hear that this place feels most like home, and we are glad to have you aboard. R-2R DACs are right at the top of my digital choices as they seem to get it right. Well, nearly right, but never quite as right as vinyl....i best not start that argument again lol. Anyway, dive right in and make yourself at home. Oliver

welcome Neil - cool system (when you finally get the Radford anyway).
I know Oli only uses the absolute best parts for his builds so if you copied his BB3 build then it's as good as it can be.

I'm currently using a Cambridge Audio A500 (yes I know lol) I'll put some pics up of the Tannoy cabs - they're actually Balmoral DIY copies which I bought from Frank (cooky1257) on PFM I'll put up some pics of the BB3 too Neil

Nice kit there Neil
Radford and Tannoys work well together. I have Berkeleys and sometimes plumb a Radford Revival STA25 in. Wonderful synergy and it being just right. How are you running the CA A500 with the TVC Pre? Can you bypass the A500 pre stage?

Hi Edward, Yes I found a way to bypass the preamp but it's not a decent amp really so I'm a bit frustrated with the wait but I'm sure it'll be worth it. It's interesting how many people are using the Tannoy/Radford combination. But from what you say the Radford isn't your first choice? /Neil

They just give different flavours so I switch things around to suit the mood. I'll never give up on Radfords. I have a relationship with them going back decades. I do hope that Will gets to build yours soon. You will not be disappointed. The SACT outfit in Thailand looks interesting. How did you come across them?

Hi Neil,
apologies for late welcome there, been a rather busy day one way or another.
Some good pedigree you have there for sure and no doubt you'll fit right in.
Welcome and have some fun.

I'm impressed they have released this information: www.sacthailand.com/transformer_mc.htmlI like a company that doesn't hide from the truth, but would rather embrace it and give an honest insight into their wares.

Had a Minute EL34 amp for a while, superb little thing. Nowt wrong with the SQ at all but wanted a remote and a little more power. Drove my ESL 57's very well though, also a really nice match with horns.

Hello Neil Good bunch around here even if the are slightly deluded about vinyl but we cant agree on everything otherwise it would lemmings central!
I have zero intrest in these personal, do not sell them, however have had one on 'test' for while now and its surpringly good given I'm not a fan of chifi!
The Gustard R26 is nothing like the X260 pro (thankfully) and its really musical, and fun to listen to with zero grain/ I have put three people Soekris way in the last month he hasn't reply to any of them they are not amused seems like you are suffering the same fate.
