- SOLD -
For sale is my Musical Paradise MP 701 mkII valve preamplifier.
It’s been very highly modified with every part specifically chosen (after rigorous testing and experimentation) to complement the other parts.
Modification/upgrades include:
- V-Cap ODAM coupling caps
- Audyn True Copper Max / Mundorf Supreme power bypass caps
- RCA 6SN7 ‘coin base’ Valves (NOS) x 3 – 1 per channel + cathode follower
- Mullard GZ34 rectifier valve (NOS) – the best available
- CMC pure copper RCA inputs
- High quality Elna copper selector switch
- OCC wiring throughout
Currently setup in a 2 input 2 output configuration as I was running dual subwoofers from it but you can run another power amplifier or active speakers etc. I could add another input if absolutely necessary.
The above parts cost alone is well over £500 and original purchase price not including shipping and customs charges was £600.
The preamp is so far ahead of the original (which was a very good preamp to begin with) it’s like a completely different machine. The scope was to make a preamp that has the bass slam and impact of an SS one but with all the warmth and holographic presentation of a valve one. This preamp truly achieves this with this combination of upgrades and parts.
It’s a world away from the majority of mushy, slow, valve preamps, it is fast and articulate.
Remote control for volume is also very handy.
It’s in excellent condition with minimal signs of use, it’s only two years old and has been in sporadic use since purchase due to upgrades etc.
All the valves were bought matched/balanced and NOS so will have less than 200 hours on all of them so you can rest assured they have long lives left ahead of them.
I’ve honestly never head a valve pre get close to what this can do, it really is that good.
Here is a link to the standard version which gets glowing reviews in its standard guise:

Please note – I have removed the XLR in’s and disconnected the out’s as they were not true balanced (they were just hooked up to work as effectively unbalanced XLR connections or pseudo balanced) but I could put these back in should the purchaser require. They were in the signal path so I figured I’d remove them anyway.
