Just picked this up for a mate who has a Hifi a emporium franchise. Thought it would be rude not to plumb it in and have a play. Krell KSA250, It sounds rather nice, bloody heavy though 145 lb.

Kell with Logans it's a classic combination. Better in the bass, more control?

Yep more control, almost more of everything, staging, detail, harmonics, space..... I'm just hoping it's too expensive for me, as was very happy until I put this in.

Someone on AoS e0mailed me to ask if I thought he should get a 250 (for some big Wilsons I think) I told him go for it and he's well happy with it. I don't know what he paid though. You would have to prize mine out of my dead hands

They seem to be selling for around about £3K looking at completed listings on Hi-Fi Shark.

Then it looks like I've been offered it at a stonking price. The rotten sod, now have to do some serious thinking. 🤯

It would be rude not to buy them. (I love spending other people's money)
A mate has Krell FPB250m monos. Krell just do things right.

Looks fab. 145lb, though. Way over my limit for an amp these days. Are the heatsink fins as sharp as they look? Congrats on your new amp.

Well after 20 hrs of listening, ruminating & cogitating (8hrs yesterday & 12hrs today) on the Nord Vs Krell fight, the jury has reached its unanimous verdict.

Come on....spill the beans!!!! My money is on the Krell me too !! You are indeed correct in saying Krell. As that is the amp that will be making the onward journey to Emporium Hifi, rather than putting down roots at Lurch towers. Seriously I'm moving the Krell on. It did a good job, and initially I was wowed by it, but after extended listening I just couldn't connect with it. The Nord did virtually everything the Krell did but in a seemingly more relaxed manner. Yes the Krell had slightly more weight/punch in the bass it was however marginal, but at the end of the day the Nords were a more relaxed listen. The Krell also became rather lacklustre at lower volumes (normal listening levels) whereas the Nords keep the punch and sense of drive and once they're cranked up to match the volume I was driving the Krell at they near as damn it matched it. An added bonus is that the Nords did this without trying to cook me or inflate my leccy bill. The offer price of £2,250 was very very fair and very tempting initially, but after 20hrs it's a big no-no.

Fair play lurch for keeping your head and being objective.

Yeah, just goes to show the importance of a proper and extended audition of equipment.
Impressions can change from the first half hour compared to a few hours later.
Great when you haven't spent any money and you know you've got the amp that suits you best for your needs.
Nice one.

Well done John, to be honest I'd forgotten you still had the Nord's and the bake off was going to be between the Krell and Icon's. Well done in giving yourself time to get to know the sound of the Krell's and not rushing in to a hasty decision (bank manager gives a big sigh of relief and wipes the sweat from his brow)
Are you using the Nord's for summertime use?

The Nords were originally purchased as better quality summer amps to replace an Arcam Alpha 8P (which I still have). However they've since become my daily drivers with the Icons getting very little use, the Nords really are that good. The last time I fired them up was at my BO in mid May when I ran them on the HF on my MLs with the Nords on LF duty. I guess at some point I need to move the Icons on, along with my very early 401. Luckily I have no desperate need for the ££s so can bide my time.
